Premier Team update

The Premier Team are currently flying high in League 3 during their first season playing national netball, third position and hoping to climb higher!

Round nine saw the Cumberland Premier League 3 squad travel to Surrey to play Just Ahead. The first quarter proved fairly tight with shooters at both ends converting goal for goal with Cumberland leading by only one at the end of the first quarter. Following an inspirational team talk from stand in coach, Laura Jane Brennan, Cumberland came out refocused applying tighter man to man defensive pressure across the whole court which created numerous intercepts and tips.

Thanks to accurate and slick feeding from Andy Johnson (WA) and Chrissy Fitzgerald (C) Cumberland shooters Diane Antonvich (GA) and Kirsty Smith (GS) capitalised on the turnovers putting the team eight goals ahead.

Determined to push the lead even further, the team came out blazing in the third quarter forcing more errors amongst the opposition allowing fruitful interceptions for Becky Swarbrick (WD) and circle defenders Polini Langi (GD) and Georgina Partridge (GK).

The forth quarter was amazing to watch with slick passing and quick movement amongst the attackers, in particular, newly substituted Charlie Glynn (WA) quick off the line and providing fast balls into the circle. The team finished on a high eventually winning 58 to 34.
