Cumberland vs Academy
Cumberland A team met Academy in a top of the table clash in the London and South East Regional League on Saturday. With Cumberland and Gems tied in the top spot (Cumberland #1 on goal difference) and Academy in 3rd there was all to play for.
The game held in Rainham in Kent was fast paced and physical from the onset. An energetic first quarter saw Cumberland assert a 7 goal advantage through patient attack and strong defence. The team continued to pile on the pressure with numerous circle and mid-court turnovers and fast paced attacks through court converting to goals through an accurate shooting display by Kelly Hutton and Krista Priscott. The third quarter saw Cumberland’s lead extend further with strong circle defence preventing shooting opportunities for the Academy shooters. Cumberland continued to exert their dominance on the match with a 53-31 win.
Player of the match went to Bridget McKenzie.
