C Team Match Report, 08.11.08

Cumberland C team, unbeaten in the Middlesex league, faced their toughest challenge yet in a closely contested match versus Palmers Green.

The first half of the match was uncharacteristcally flat for Cumberland who took a while to settle into their style of play. Rosie Bayman, Louise Foy and Ellie Morgan worked hard in centre court and by half time Palmers lead by just two goals. Fresh legs in the form of Chi Chi Eseonu and Elaine Thompson and some grit and determination saw a new side take the court in the 3rd quarter. Jane Whitefield and Carla Tannis worked excellently round the circle and really got their eye in for some great shots, the tempo picked up and by the end of the 3rd quarter it was 18-18.

A slight change to defence with Jenny Fearn as GK and player of the match Chi Chi moving to GD and a very determined C team made for a very exciting - and nerve wracking - final quarter, the game ended 24-22.

A great win for Cumberland C and a good warm up for the North London B vs C team showdown next week!
