Cumberland C vs Old Fincunians A
North London Netball League – Saturday 18 October

Following the team’s decisive victory over Old Fincs B last week, Cumberland took their place on court against Old Fincs A team with obvious confidence, hungry for their first win in the North London Netball League this season.

Cumberland began with some good, steady play resulting in an early lead in the first quarter. The second quarter saw a marked improvement in team play with the ball coming easily out of defence and flowing down the court to the circle where Chimene Painter hardly missed. Kate Groucutt, at centre, covered the court with ease and confidence, providing back up in defence when needed and deftly feeding into the circle.

A change to the team at half time took some adjusting too, but continued excellence from Claire Smith and Jenny Fearn in defence meant that the opponents couldn’t close the gap. By the end of the third quarter, Cumberland had regained their form and continued confidently to reach a final score of 43 to 36 goals.

Claire Smith and Jenny Fearn were voted joint players of the match by the umpires.
