B Team Match Report, 13.09.08

PLAYERS from Cumberland’s B Team were in fine form on Saturday when they beat London rivals Old Actonians A in the opening match of Middlesex County Netball League’s Premier Division.

Having come second in the First Division last season, both Cumberland and Old Actonians were promoted to the Premier Division this season, keen to get the season off to a good start. Cumberland B went into their first round match in confident mood. And the girls didn’t disappoint as they led from the first whistle, opening a strong lead with a tight defence and an accurate shooting display.

The fast paced game suited Cumberland and the team’s defence proved too strong for their rivals as Player of the Match Natalie Ekweogwu led the Camden-based team to a 50-25 goal win.
