Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme

Cumberland Netball Club is part of the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme. This is a reward and recognition initiative that enables schools and youth organisations to celebrate the accomplishments of young people. Established in 1999, the Jack Petchey Foundation gives grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11-25. The Foundation exists to raise the aspirations of young people, to help them take advantage of opportunities and play a full part in society.
Cumberland are Bronze scheme members and receive 3 awards per calendar year. Players are nominated by one another, coaches and parents for going above and beyond, and achieving - perhaps where others thoughts they might fail. They could be nominated for an achievement at Cumberland or outside of netball. The winners are then selected by the committee and coaching team, based on the best nominations. The Jack Petchey Foundation provide a cash prize of £250 with the winner choosing how the money is spent within the club. Each winner is also presented with a certificate and pin badge at a club event. They also have the opportunity to attend a Jack Petchey Celebration Event where they are congratulated on stage in front of friends and family with a gold medallion.

June 2021 Winners
Annabel Allan
Annabel has bossed this very strange season! Her determination and drive to improve both her fitness and skill throughout the various lockdowns is now showing on court. Annabel is becoming a strong and thoughtful netballer who wants to improve as an individual but also has the team at heart.
Filipa Santos
Filipa shows such incredible potential as a netballer. She’s confident, communicative and takes on feedback. She’s a true team player and has slotted into the C team so well. She’s a real asset to our mid court. Filipa has been pulled from pillar to post always with a smile on her face. She trains every week without fail, puts in 100% effort and gives it her all. This season she was a training partner for Regional as well as being in the C team; she managed her time and diary especially well so as not to impact on either team. Despite being a youngster she’s supportive and is always cheering everyone on.
Alex Sludden
Alex has been a dedicated team member attending training every week and being available for matches. Despite playing above her age group she is a key team member and works hard with the other shooter to make the circle work in a variety of ways.
